What is the best drill for the job?

This drill is perfect for jobs around the home.  They usually have two functions: Tightening and loosening screws and drilling holes.
The numbers on a drill control the torque (the driving power) a low number means the drill won’t go as fast and gives you more control. Start low then work the numbers up, be careful not to drill too fast as this can strip screwheads or damage the drill bit.  A low speed is best for wood, with a higher speed for brick work.
Some cordless drills also have a hammer function which means you can drill into brick work, this is for small screws and not for any major structural jobs.

For drilling into brick and masonry work, this drill is more powerful than the standard cordless drill. A standard drill is just not powerful enough to drill into heavy brick work.

A multi use or combi drill can do 2 in 1. This means you can drill holes into masonry or brick work and by changing the drill tip the hammer function can tackle tough jobs such as removing brick or masonry. These drills are usually always corded and require a 110v transformer. (a small yellow box which converts a domestic 240v down to 110v)

SDS (SDS means Self Direct System)
These drills are made for drilling or chipping through tough masonry and brick work. They are also suitable for chipping tiles and concrete.
These drills are usually always corded and require a 110v transformer. (a small yellow box which converts a domestic 240v down to 110v)

Suitable for heavy duty tasks such as removing a concrete floor, patio or tarmac from a drive way. This hammer delivers explosive breaking power without sacrificing mobility. With the ability to work without a compressor this allows for greater comfort and low on-site operating costs
